Northern Rockies Northern Rockies RCMP continue a search for a 65 year old Fort Nelson resident who is missing after a boating accident on Monday on the Liard River.
The man and two others were on a river boat in an area known as Hell Gate on the Liard River north west of Fort Nelson when the boat they were in capsized, sending all three into the river. Two men were able to make it to shore, but the third man has not been located.
An extensive search has been underway since Tuesday when the survivors were located and able to get help.
RCMP along with Search and Rescue personnel from Fort Nelson and Fort St John have been working with a significant number of family, friends and community volunteers who are also conducting a comprehensive search for the missing man.
“This is a tragic accident and our focus at this point is working with an unbelievable number of volunteers who are fully engaged in locating the missing man”.
No further information is being released at this time and no names are being released.
