Dirtbike vs Apartment building
On Tuesday July 22nd, Fort Nelson RCMP received a report of a dirt bike speeding up and down 49th St and patrols were requested as this was an ongoing issue in the area.
Police did make patrols and obtained a description of the bike and rider but were unable to locate the suspect or vehicle at the time.
A second call was received about an hour later reporting that a motor bike of similar description had just rode directly into a building on 49th Street.
Police attended and observed considerable damage to the front face of the building. After speaking to witnesses on the scene, they were able to locate a motor bike matching the vehicle description given on both calls. Shortly after a male matching the description of the rider, was observed walking along the edge of the apartment building property. The male who was covered in dirt and grass was arrested by police after confirming his identity to that of the name provided as the suspect rider.
The male was complaining of pain in his leg and was transported by ambulance to the Fort Nelson General Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries before being brought back to the RCMP Detachment where he was being held while the investigation continued.
