Taking Time to Have the Conversation:

Northern Rockies Community Health Centre Referendum Deferred

FORT NELSON – The Northern Rockies Community Health Centre has been the topic of many coffee talks, dinner table conversations and social media discussions since April 2014 when it was presented for public input during the Alternate Approval Process. Recognizing the community’s desire to be part of the conversation, Mayor and Council will take the opportunity over the coming months to meaningfully engage with Fort Nelson residents about the future of the Community Health Centre.

“Creating a shared understanding about what Fort Nelson needs in healthcare, and how we as a community can best stabilize our health services, is a must,” says Regional Councillor Laurie Dolan, Project Chair. “Having an open conversation where people can share their thoughts is necessary to help us decide how to best deliver leading primary healthcare services for our Community”.

Recognizing that engaging with the community is better accomplished exclusive of a coming referendum, Mayor and Council opted to defer the Northern Rockies Community Health Centre Referendum until further notice during a Special Meeting today.

Notice of workshops and roundtable discussions related to the NRRM’s role in healthcare will be advertised in the coming weeks and months
