BC Heritage Branch and Alaska Highway Community Society host Community Heritage Value Workshops March 5th

The workshops will provide an opportunity for communities in the North Peace, South Peace and Fort Nelson areas to explore what they value about their community’s heritage and to identify historic places in their communities. Time will also be set aside to discuss the heritage of the Alaska Highway Corridor.
Everyone with an interest in culture tourism, heritage, and history is invited to attend!
Working together, participants will:
Interact with others who share their passion for heritage. Gain an understanding about heritage conservation tools and learn about initiatives already underway in their communities. Learn how to build on existing community assets and generate other creative ideas to celebrate and protect their community’s heritage. Gather information that can be used as the basis for community heritage programs. Identify ways to benefit ongoing and future heritage projects in the communities as well as tourism initiatives. Help identify key assets for the nomination of the Alaska Highway Corridor as a National Historic Site of Canada.
Fort Nelson – Monday, March 4th (eve) and Tuesday, March 5th at Fort Nelson Community Centre.
