Assault in the powder room, this past Sunday morning around 1:30 a.m. while police were conducting a licensed premises check at the Fort Nelson Hotel bar they were approached by a male who stated he had just been assaulted. The male told police he walked into the washroom and observed another male snorting cocaine up his nose and who without any warning turned around punched him in the face.
The complainant advised police he did not wish to pursue criminal charges against the male who assaulted him. Police quickly located the male responsible for the assault and asked him to step outside the bar. While speaking with the 23-year -old Fort Nelson man police noted he had either just recently powdered his nose, or was as the victim of the assault stated, snorting cocaine.

Police quickly attended to the liquor store where they located the vehicle and driver. Judging by the bouquet of Marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle police quickly determined the drivers ability to operate’a motor vehicle safely was in fact not impaired by alcohol. When questioned about this the Chilliwack man admitted he had recently been smoking Marijuana. Once police were satisfied his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by a drug they impounded his vehicle, seizing his drivers license and issuing him with a 24 hour prohibition from driving any motor vehicle.
