Hadland to run as Independent in May Election

Arthur Hadland

FORT ST. JOHN – Regional district director Arthur Hadland announced this week that he will run for MLA in Peace River North in the 2013 provincial election.
In the last provincial election, Hadland surprised many with his ability to build a strong and principled team of campaign volunteers. He earned the vote of nearly one third of electors (31.3%) to earn a strong second place. Despite being a relatively unknown candidate at the beginning of the election, voters were drawn to his positive and principled message.
“It has been an honour serving the community as a Director in the Peace River Regional District in the past four years,” said Hadland. “I am hopeful that my experience, principles, and dedication to a prosperous Peace region will earn me the trust of voters in the coming months. I will be reaching out to voters and working hard to represent our community in the provincial legislature.”
Hadland remains committed to the same principles that inspired him to run in the last election. “For too long we have witnessed the inefficient and ineffective political games of the South,” said Hadland. “It is time to take the North’s practical, can-do attitude to Victoria and ensure our government begins working for the good of our community.”
His platform reveals a commitment to ensuring: the budget is balanced and managed for a stable economy,  natural resources and infrastructure are managed for long-term prosperity, and  families, businesses, and communities are empowered in an open democracy.
“Arthur Hadland has a clear understanding of the issues facing businesses and families in the Peace,” said former regional district director Larry Houley. “His honesty, dedication, and integrity make him an excellent candidate. I am pleased to support such a principled and experienced leader in our community.”
Hadland has years of experience in government, business, and agriculture. He was elected as a Director for the Peace River Regional District in 2008 and has successfully represented the priorities of its residents. He owns and manages a commercial grain and grass seed farm in Baldonnel as well as InterAg Consulting, a consulting and appraisal firm active in the agricultural and oil/gas industries.
“I would like to acknowledge the outpouring of support from volunteers and donors in the last election,” said Hadland. “I am thankful to all those who continue to support an independent voice for the North. As an independent, I can clearly and effectively represent the interests of citizens in the North. My message is not shaped by spin-doctors and party strategists in Vancouver.”
The next provincial election is to take place next spring in May of 2013.
