Christmas – start a new tradition

As the holidays approach — let this year be different — let’s support Fort Nelson.
Who says a gift needs to fit in a box?  It’s time to think outside the box. Everyone gets their hair cut. How about gift certificates from your local Fort Nelson hair salon or barber?
How about that gym or fitness membership? It’s appropriate for all ages who are thinking about health improvement.
Who wouldn’t appreciate getting their car detailed? Detail shops and car washes would love to sell you a gift certificate.
How about ensuring someone gets their lawn mowed all summer, or driveway plowed all winter, or plays at the local golf course or bowling alley.
Our local specialty gift stores, boutiques, jewellery stores, and pharmacies offer unique items and clothing for holiday giving and have the added benefit of exchanging if the fit isn’t exactly right.
Give the gift of groceries. Do a basket with specialty kitchen items and health foods. Make your own crafts with locally purchased supplies.
There are owner-run restaurants – all offering gift certificates. What about a half dozen breakfasts at a local breakfast joint? Remember folks, this isn’t about big online or out of town chains — this is about supporting your home town, Fort Nelson, and ensuring our businesses keep their doors open.
How many people couldn’t use an oil change for their car, truck or motorcycle, done at a local shop?
Thinking about a heartfelt gift for mom? Mom would love the services of a local cleaning lady for a day.
Does someone’s computer need a tune-up? I know you can find some entrepreneur working to run his own business.
Looking for something personal? Local crafts people make jewellery and pottery, paint, or take photos. Give Grandma that perfect family photo in a beautiful handmade frame. Check out the artists on display at the Visitor Centre.
Plan your holiday outings at local, owner operated restaurants and leave your server a nice tip. And, how about going out to see the next live entertainment at our hometown theatre or sponsored event?
Christmas is about us encouraging our neighbours and Fort Nelson small businesses to keep plugging away to follow their dreams. And, when we care about our neighbours and communities, the benefits come back to us in ways we can’t imagine.
THIS is the new Fort Nelson Christmas tradition!
45% of every dollar spent in the community is reinvested in the community.
0% spent out of town or online is reinvested in the community.
Support the Fort Nelson businesses who support our community!
