Hawkair DH8A near Dawson Creek, engine shut down in flight

By Simon Hradecky,

A Hawkair Aviation Services de Havilland Dash 8-100 on behalf of Central Mountain Air, registration C-FCJE performing flight 9M-804 from Vancouver, BC, to Dawson Creek, BC, with 39 people on board, was en route near Dawson Creek when the crew received a low oil pressure indication for the left hand engine (PW120A) prompting the crew to shut the engine down. The crew decided to return to Vancouver where the aircraft landed safely on runway 08R.
The Canadian TSB reported maintenance determined a cannon plug on the engine had caused a false oil pressure indication.
