Yikes! Snowfall!

This week’s heavy (and unexpected) snowfall caught motorists by surprise. Christine Grace of Fort Nelson caught this image Monday morning after a snow plow went off the road. Environment Canada tells us that as of Tuesday, there is over 15 cm of snow on the ground in Fort Nelson. The record was set in 1969 when 30.0 cm of snow covered the ground by October 23rd. Fort Nelson has the 11th longest winter in Canada, with an average of 179 days where there is more than 1cm of snow on the ground.  Alert in Nunavut takes top place, with an average of 306 snowy days per year. Brr!
