Obituary – Roy Capot-Blanc, 56

April 17th, 1955 – November 5th, 2011

Roy Phillip Capot-Blanc was born in Beaver River, on April 17th, 1955 to Napolean and Mary Capot-Blanc. When Roy was born, Napolean told his two daughters, Louise and Margerat, that the Easter Bunny had bless them with a baby. His early years were spent at La Jolie Butte (Pretty Hills). Summers were spent with his sister Agnus and her family. When Roy was six years old, the family moved to the Old Fort so the children could attend school. Roy started to get into trouble and was sent to Fort Liard to live with his sister Agnus. During that time, Roy was sent to the Thomas Simpson Residential School. Roy would have finished but he and his friend had to escape, so they ran away. Roy was the class clown, he told them how to make a fire by rubbing two sticks together, meanwhile he didn’t tell them one of the sticks was a match! Roy’s first job was slashing with Enis Gairdner at the age of 17. Roy also went firefighting. From 1970-2, he worked for the Department of Highways from the Alaska Highway to the Nelson River. He worked for Beaver Enterprises as a foreman, heavy equipment operator and labourer. He also worked for Peter Williscroft as a welder’s helper. Roy met and fell in love with Noreen Fantasque in 1980. Noreen soon became heavy with child. Evangelina Agnus was born on January 18, 1981, followed by Debra Lee on February 2, 1982 and Troy on July 30, 1983. When Debra was born and the nurse told Roy it was a girl, he said “No, put her back, I want a boy!” At the Old Fort, Roy and Douglas Burke had built a raft and went to Fort Liard. When they arrived, his dad was waiting on the river bank and brought them back to the Old Fort. In the winter of 1992, Roy met and fell in love with Violet Tesou. Together they built a life together. Roy had various jobs from foreman to captain of the river taxi. In 1999, Roy became the proud grampa to Inez Angel Noreen Fantasque, when Evangelina was pregnant a second time, he shook her good and said “grandson”…and Papa Roy got Wade, then Holly. Roy leaves to mourn his common law Violet, children Evangelina (Brian), Debra-Lee (Zack) and Troy, grandchildren Inez, Wade and Holly, mother Mary, brothers Angus (Lucy), Floyd and Lloyd, sisters Louise, Margerat (Lyle), Julie (Anthony), Bernice, Flora (Jimmy), and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, to all he referred “Let’s go make a family allowance…” Roy was predeceased by his father Napolean Capot- Blanc, his sister Agnus B, his niece Alassa and his nephews Kenny Timbre and Marvin Timbre.
