Obituary – David Parker Warren, 64

March 13th, 1945 – October 20th, 2009

David Parker Warren was born March 13,1945 in Coronach, Saskatchewan; the eldest son of William and Phyllis Warren. Dave’s mother passed away when he was three years old. Dave’s early year’s were spent on the farm in Saskatchewan with his dad and younger brother Joe. In 1954 they moved to Drayton Valley. In 1957 at the age of 12 the family made the move to Fort Nelson. Dave started work repairing houses and fighting forest fires. In 1963 at the age of 18 he started what would be a life-long career as a truck driver. Dave worked for Doug Streeper Transport for 16 years. Dave also worked for many years at Westcoast during the summer months. In later years he hauled fuel during the winter months and took time in summer to do his many and various projects. In 1968 Doris and Dave meet while Dave was working for his future father-in-law Marcel Houde. They were married August 4, 1972. After a brief year of “city-life” they moved to their Acreage at Mile 302. They were blessed with 2 boys; Neil in 1980 and Brian in 1984. Dave had many passions and hobbies in his lifetime; he was a true recycler – We all brought our recycling to him and he faithfully recycled batteries, papers, cans, jars, etc. He brought everything south since it wasn’t recycled here. Actually, he recycled whatever he didn’t “collect”. His collections were various and many. Need to know the temperature on a certain day 15 years ago?… No problem Dave would have had it written on his calenders that he has saved for the last 38 or so years. If you ever needed a back copy of a phone book or newspaper no problem… Dave would have it – (he also had to collect sheds to store his collections in.) He especially liked company logo items whether it was pens, hats, lighters, signs, etc. Of course Dave didn’t just collect small items; he loved his antique farm equipment, old cars and pickups. He recently purchased a new dodge pickup but no one in his family was surprised to still see him escort his dogs around in the 1974 Chev… “It will be going long after everything else.” He would say. Dave had a unique sense of humor & We remember some of his favorite sayings very well; “Just another day”, “Don’t put mud on the driveway – Pick it up!”, “If you want something to do – Pick sticks” to name just a few. Most of the family and many friends had nicknames as well. Dave loved going to Auction Sales. He had to get internet when he discovered that auctions were being broadcast live online. Dave could tell you the selling price and who bought what. Dave enjoyed his years working on the yard and in his garden. You never seen a dandelion on Dave’s lawn and the leaf blower came out at the first sign of fall. He fed his birds in the winter for over 30 years…(There also might have been a well fed fox or two.) Dave had to go on many rescue missions over the years – Rescuing his boys and their friends from whatever swamp, mud hole, or river they had tried to navigate. Last month’s rescue mission even the boys say – “No – That one was BAD.” He was always there for his family and friends no matter how late or long he was always there to help. Dave was thrilled and proud by the birth of his first grandchild; Emmlin Ann Warren. She was a joy in his life and made him smile every single day. He was predeceased by his mother Phyllis and his father William. Dave will be sadly missed by his wife Doris, his children Neil (Regi), Brian (Amanda), his granddaughter Emmlin, his brother Joe (Lois), many loved ones, relatives, friends, and also by his long time side-kicks, his dogs, Sprocket and Madison. Thank you to all family and friends for your help and support, food and donations. Doris, Neil, Brian & Families.
