Paul Martin family create opportunities for Aboriginal entrepreneurs

FORT NELSON – Canada’s 21st Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Paul Martin, came to Fort Nelson Secondary School on Tuesday October 16th to launch the Martin Aboriginal Education Initiative (MAEI) Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Program (AYEP) for grade 11 and 12 students.
The program is sponsored by the Horn River Basin Producer’s Group (HRBPG) and several members were in attendance.  Mr. Martin spent the morning with students in the program, and later spoke to over 50 attendees about the merits of the AYEP and how it is helping to shift society’s views.  (L to R): Former Fort Nelson First Nation Chief Kathi Dickie, the Right Honourable Paul Martin, ConocoPhillips Canada VP Lloyd Visser (on behalf of HRBPG), and Fort Nelson First Nation councillor Theresa Fincaryk.  Photo by Kathy Smith.
